1. Professor (RBI Chair) [One post – Pay Band ₹37,400-67,000 with Academic Grade Pay of

₹10,000]

NIPFP intends to appoint a senior level Professor to the Reserve Bank of India Chair. Previous Chairs include: Prof. Sudipto Mundle (Member, 14th Finance Commission), Prof. Indira Rajaraman (Member, 13th Finance Commission), Prof. Chandan Mukherjee (Ex-Director, CDS, Thiruvananthapuram), Dr. Poonam Gupta (now with the Chief Economist’s Office, World Bank) and Dr. Ila Patnaik, Professor, NIPFP. This is a very senior position which provides a unique opportunity to work with stakeholders in Government and the international policy community, and in close collaboration with the RBI, Ministry of Finance and the State Governments at the highest policy making level. The RBI Professor will be part of a vibrant policy community with resources to produce and disseminate policy research in India, and globally.  We are looking for a

person with an impeccable academic and policy record and with the desire to guide and augment policy oriented research in areas relevant to the Institute’s vision, mandate and policy programme. We expect the Professor to be 45 years of age but this is relaxable for younger, dynamic economists, if deemed appropriate, by the Selection Committee.

A Ph.D in Economics, excellent publications, 10 years of research experience are essential.

Professor (RBI Chair) – one post - to be filled on contractual basis, initially for a period of three years (Pay Band ₹37400-67000 + Academic Grade Pay of ₹10000)

Age: Preferably 45 years (relaxable by Selection Committee in deserving cases).

Essential Qualifications:

• Ph.D in Economics
• Demonstrable experience in successfully collaborating and/or leading research and or evidence based policy analysis as part of a research project or programme
• Leading track record of consistent research publication in the peer-reviewed economics journals
• Ten years of experience in research or policy analysis in an area relevant to NIPFP’s current research and policy focus
• National and international experience in partnering with government institutions and/or multilateral institutions
• (vi)A minimum of 6(six) publications in peer reviewed economics journals
• Selection not be confined to only those who apply.

The Selection Committee can relax the number of years of experience in the case of deserving

candidates.

However, exceptional cases, if any, for relaxation of Rules, shall be placed before the Governing Body for its consideration and approval.

Associate Professor - Two posts – to be filled on contractual basis initially for a period of two years (Pay Band ₹37400-67000 + Academic Grade Pay of ₹9000)

Age: Preferably 40 years (relaxable by Selection Committee in deserving cases).

 

Qualifications Essential:

• Ph.D in Economics
• Demonstrable experience in successfully collaborating and/or leading research and/or evidence based policy analysis as part of a research project or programme
• A minimum of 4 publications in the peer reviewed economics journals
• (iv)       Five years of experience in research or policy analysis in an area relevant to NIPFP’s current research and policy focus

Associate Professor (Data Bank) - one post – to be filled on contractual basis initially for a period of two years (Pay Band ₹37400-67000 + Academic Grade Pay of ₹9000)

Age: Preferably 40 years (relaxable by Selection Committee in deserving cases).

Qualifications Essential:

• Ph.D in Economics
• Demonstrable experience in successfully collaborating and/or leading research       and/or evidence based policy analysis as part of a research project or programme
• A minimum of 4 publications in the peer reviewed economics journals
• Five years’ experience in research or policy analysis in an area relevant to NIPFP’s current research and policy focus
• Fair knowledge of Indian Public Finance, Data and Conceptual issues
• Knowledge of other databases and sources of data used for public policy formulation

Desirable

• Previous experience in handling databases
• Experience in the software or database packages in handling databases and statistical analysis

Assistant Professor [one post] to be filled on contractual basis initially for a period of two years (₹15600-39100 + Academic Grade Pay of ₹7000)

Age: preferably 35 years

Essential Qualifications

• Ph.D in Economics
• Demonstrable track record of research and/or policy analysis in the areas of macroeconomics and/or public economics
• At least 2 publications in peer reviewed economics journals
